Standard Back-to-Back Split System Installation
Our fixed-price installation is based on a standard back-to-back installation, which is suitable for many homes.
A back-to-back installation means the indoor unit is mounted on an internal wall with the outdoor unit positioned directly behind it on the outside wall. This allows the refrigeration pipework, electrical cable and condensate drain to pass straight through the wall, keeping pipe runs short and installation costs lower.
A standard back-to-back installation typically includes:
- Installation of one indoor wall-mounted unit
- Installation of one outdoor condenser on the ground or suitable mounting location
- Up to approximately 3 metres of refrigeration pipework
- Electrical interconnecting cable
- Condensate drain connection
- Wall penetration through brick, timber or cladding
- UV-stable ducting where required
- Pressure testing and vacuuming of refrigeration pipework
- Electrical testing and commissioning
- System startup and operational demonstration
- Removal of installation rubbish
When Is Additional Work Required?
Every home is different. Additional charges may apply where installations require:
- Long refrigeration pipe runs
- Double-storey properties
- Roof space access
- Concrete or difficult wall penetrations
- Wall brackets or roof mounting
- Switchboard upgrades
- Dedicated electrical circuits – From 3.5kw units
- Safety switches (RCD/RCBO)
- Existing air conditioner removal
- Crane or specialised access equipment
